With the film Birds of Prey being released in February this year, weeks before the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic broke out in the United States, news about the future of Harlequin in theatres is back.
According to information from the DCEU Mythic website (via Comic Book ), Warner Bros. Pictures is currently in initial talks to decide which next feature film will be released with the character as the protagonist.
The publication points out that there are no indications at the moment as to which title should be in question, but take the opportunity to remember that Gotham City Sirens is one of the possibilities if we take into account that the project almost happened a few years ago.
It is also worth mentioning that a few months ago rumours emerged that the studio would like to release one film a year starring the Harlequin. Birds of Prey hit theatres in February; Suicide Squad will be released in August 2021, so the question now is: will the next feature be released in 2022?
Next film with Harlequin will be the new Suicide Squad.
It was also highlighted in recent weeks that the group’s new formation in the feature might count on the presence of Ratcatcher ( Daniela Melchior ), Tubarão-Rei, Polka-Dot Man and the Peacemaker. The last two, for the most recent news, will be played by David Dastmalchian and John Cena alongside the character of Idris Elba (who will no longer be the gunslinger), Captain Boomerang ( Jai Courtney ), Rick Flagg ( Joel Kinnaman ) and Harlequin ( Margot Robbie )
Actress Viola Davis will also return as the interpreter for Amanda Waller. Peter Capaldi was also confirmed in the cast in an undisclosed role. James Gunn is responsible for the script and direction of the project.
Charles Roven and Peter Safran are producers of the title, while Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder assume positions in their executive production.
