Ving Rhames, the only actor in the franchise Mission: Impossible, which was present in every film alongside Tom Cruise, had confirmed his return in sequences 7 and 8, by director Christopher McQuarrie. In conversation with the podcast Light The Fuse [via CBM ], the filmmaker also confirmed the return of Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow.
The director even warmed up for yet another mysterious cast, which must be a fantastic addition to the cast. McQuarrie, however, did not disclose the name: “There was another person we were talking to before the world exploded. An actor who made us very excited. I don’t know what that will be like, because it was before the stoppage, and it was an incredibly fantastic lineup.”
In conclusion, McQuarrie also indicated possible unexpected returns: “Any character, dead or alive, can appear.”
Composer Lorne Balfe, who worked on the soundtrack for Mission: Impossible – Fallout Effect, will also return for the sequel. He was responsible for the tracks of the series His Dark Materials and the features Squad 6 and Bad Boys Forever.
With the production of the Mission: Impossible films stopped, the two sequences were postponed by Paramount. Mission: Impossible 7 is now scheduled for November 19, 2021, and the next movie, Mission: Impossible 8, has been moved to November 4, 2022.
Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg have confirmed returns. In contrast, Hayley Atwell ( Agent Carter ), Nicholas Hoult ( X-Men ), and Pom Klementieff ( Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ) have also been announced in the cast.
Christopher McQuarrie will direct both sequels. He was the only director in the franchise’s history to return for a second film when he took on the Fallout Effect. The sixth Mission: Impossible raised $ 791 million worldwide, and received the Best Action Film award at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
